Bikini Lines

Written by // Christian Forestell

...or how to create the world’s largest painting

Bikini Lines - Dome

Bikini Lines is a proposal to create the world’s largest painting, viewable in Google Earth, on an historically significant & sublimely remote Pacific Island. Using the Runit Island Cactus Dome as a canvas - the dome built to contain radioactive debris from Bikini & surrounding atolls - we wish to create a new type of highly participatory, collaborative & micro-financed media for the benefit of children orphaned in the March 2011 Japanese disasters.

By challenging the way media is created we can rewrite the mode & reasoning behind it’s distribution. In short, Bikini Lines is Art, Adventure, Collaboration and Documentation.

Countdown for the release of F8Mag #6

F8Mag #6 Photo by Samih Güven

"In India I searched for the true essence of that country. I found nothing promised, no mysticism, religion, colour .... I found prostitution, drugs, money, poverty, death, and monsters, lots of monsters. For a month I visited brothels, I met  drugs dealers, I spoke with junkies, and I witnessed through my camera and in front of the fire, many of the facets of India's hidden world."

Faces of Faith

Written by // Daniel Kramer

Daniel Kramer - Faces of Faith

Why are we here and where are we going? When I was a child, my religion told me that if you were not a Christian, then, ha ha, you were going to hell. That didn’t feel right to me and I put Religion away with Santa and the Easter Bunny. Later in life, as a 20-something slacker, photography and spirituality came to me at the same time, one allowing the exploration of the other. This 20-year essay is the chronological result of those explorations.

"Some Girls"

A project by Aaron Joel Santos

About Some Girls

I’ve long been interested in those people and subcultures that exist on the fringes of society, the outcasts, the eccentrics and the hangers on. I take photographs as an excuse to learn about people and the world. So it was that I ended up here.

Some Girls straddles the line between fantasy and reality and aims to explore the lifestyles of the transgender community in Thailand, from the daily lives of young women in Bangkok to the sex workers and cabaret stars of Pattaya and beyond.

Who is Robert Leon?

I’m originally from Montreal Canada and I’ve been a professional photographer for the past 30-years. I started in photography as an advertising and corporate photographer and in 1987 moved to Milan, Italy where I lived and worked for 9-years as a fashion and advertising photographer. While in Italy I rediscovered my love of travel and documentary photography, which is what I’m now doing. I’m now based out of Vancouver which is a beautiful place to live, because it’s surrounded by mountains and the ocean.

I think that the National Geographic and LIFE magazines have had something to do with your decision to be a documentary photographer…

When I was a young child the world of images I saw in my parents’ collection of National Geographic and Life magazines fascinated me and I’d dream of going to those places because I was fascinated by the World’s cultures and exotic places.
